MIA Passengers Traffic Increased 12% in the Month of January06 Feb 2014

With the arrival of the Year of the Horse, Macau International Airport (MIA) brought good news for the month of January.  Passenger traffic volume and aircraft movements recorded an increase of 12% and 11%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.  To enrich the seasonal atmosphere for travelers, MIA invited the “God of Wealth” at the terminal building, provided photo opportunities and wished visitors “wealth”, which symbolizes good fortune for the year ahead.

During Chinese New Year period, from the 31st January to 4th February 2014 (1st to 5th day of Lunar New Year), passenger traffic volume recorded a year-on-year growth of 0.8%, serving over 80,000 passengers, and handled over 700 aircraft movements during the period.  MIA actively supports new airlines development in Macau, expands routes options, and strengthens the promotion of “one travel with more destinations”.

MIA will continue to incorporate the tourism objectives of the Macau SAR government’s policy, maintaining close cooperation with the airport’s operating partners, and expanding air services network, aiming to provide passengers more traveling options.

Taking this opportunity, MIA wishes all Macau citizens a successful and prosperous Year of Horse.
