‘Marc Chagall, Light and Colour in Southern France’ - Exhibition05 Jul 2018

Organised by the Macao Museum of Art (MAM) under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) of the Macao SAR Government and co-organised by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and the Macao Foundation, the exhibition Marc Chagall, Light and Colour in Southern France will be held until 26th August, featuring over 100 works by the renowned artist created between the 1950's and the 1970's. Paintings, gouaches, lithographs, costumes and tapestries demonstrate the pre-eminence of light and colour in his creations, while transporting exhibition-goers to distant realms of illusion.

Born in Russia at the close of the 19th Century, Chagall settled in the south of France in the 1950's. His paintings, whose creativity matches those of Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse, reflect the various cultural influences that inspired him throughout his life.

A family exploration area enables participants to appreciate Chagall's colours through projections, collages and other activities. In addition, MAM will hold a series of complementary activities, including a docent tour every Saturday and Sunday afternoon. MAM and Macao Orchestra will jointly organise the classical stringed music concert 'Music in Macao Museum of Art'.

The exhibition, by free admission, will be held on the 2nd floor of MAM, and open daily from 10:00am to 7:00pm (no admission after 6:30pm), including public holidays, and is closed on Mondays. For more information, please visit the MAM website: www.mam.gov.mo.
