Macau International Airport - Collaborative Decision Making System (A-CDM) - Officially Launch01 Feb 2021

Through utmost effort of Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) Airport Operations Department (AOD) and the airport stakeholders' active engagement, the Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM) system invested by Macau International Airport (MIA) is officially launched from 1st February 2021. Definitely it will be a great significance to the improvement of overall airport operation efficiency.

Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM) refers to a workflow and concept of improving the air traffic flow and capacity of the airport by real-time monitoring of the flight progress to reduce flight delays, increase the predictability of events, and optimize efficiency on resource allocation.  At present, A-CDM has been widely implemented in major airports of developed countries and regions. It is gradually changing the work procedures and mindset of people working in the aviation sectors, as well as having a positive influence on passengers by air travel.

A-CDM promotes intense collaboration between stakeholders and brings substantial benefits to all by sharing information, limitations, real-time and anticipated scenarios on which decisions are made. This will lead to enhance operational efficiency and facilitate optimum use of available capacity. Its specific goals can be summarized as follows: improve predictability, punctuality, reduce aircraft taxi and ground holding costs, optimize ground services and processing resources, optimize aircraft parking spaces/boarding gates/lounge facilities, reduce number of wasted Air Traffic Flow Management slots, increase flexibility in pre-departure planning and reduce apron/taxiway congestion. A-CDM is an open platform for information collection, integration, sharing and prediction, as well as an information exchange and decision-making platform for air traffic control, airport and ground handling units to play a role.

Currently, Macau International Airport (MIA) has been connected to the Arrival/Departure sequencing system of CAAC Middle and Southern Regional Air Traffic Management Bureau. The next step is to build a united tripartite air traffic control coordination platform to improve the release of all flights in the Great Bay Area by connecting with the terminal sequencing system and flow management system of Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department. Transparency and fairness will then maximize the effectiveness of A-CDM system of MIA. In order to achieve the prime objective of maximize airport capacity and enhance customers’ satisfaction while ensuring safety, it is essential to improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness through a more timely exchange of data and information with the sub-concessionaires of MIA, seamless business connection and close collaboration.
