Macau International Airport launch Kunming route and passenger traffic increased 8% in Oct 201305 Nov 2013

Macau International Airport (MIA) recorded continuous growth on passenger traffic and aircraft movement in October, recorded increases of 8% and 10% respectively over the same period of last year. Destination passengers increased by 6% while the number of passengers from Mainland China and China Taiwan rose by 16% and 10% respectively. The Southeast Asian market steady growth and still is the biggest market source, accounted for 39% of the total passengers; meanwhile, 34% of the traffic was from mainland China followed by the Taiwan market, which accounts for 27%.

China Eastern Airlines launched the Kunming-Macau route of twice weekly service from 27th Oct 2013. Kunming, capital of Yunnan Province, is known as 'The City of Eternal Spring' for its pleasant climate and flowers blooming all year long. With a history of more than 2,400 years, it was the gateway to the celebrated Silk Road that facilitated trade with Tibet, Myanmar and India. Today it is the political, economical and cultural center of Yunnan as well as the most popular tourist destination in southwest China.
